Batch DownloadingHi everyone! We’re back with another instalment of Wufoo Tips and Tricks.

This week, we’ll show you how to batch download files uploaded to entries in your Wufoo Entry Manager. Since we don’t have a built-in bulk downloading utility, we’ll be using a nifty Firefox Add-on called DownThemAll!

For any Wufoo newbies, we offer a Fancy Pants file upload field on all of our paid plans for your entries to upload files to. This is beneficial for all sorts of projects. For example, if you’re planning to collect images for a photo competition or accepting CVs for job applications.

You’ll need two things to get started:

1) The Firefox Add-on DownThemAll! You can either download it from the Firefox Add-on page or directly from the DownThemAll! site

2) A Unicorn…because Unicorns just make everything better.

Next, you’ll need to export your entries from Wufoo to Excel:

  • Log in to Wufoo Click on the Entries button in the form management options. Click on the Bulk Actions link at the top of your entries list.
  • Entry Manager

  • Select Export from the right-hand side bar menu Select XLS format
  • Moving right along! Once you’ve exported the spreadsheet, open it and delete all columns that don’t contain links to files.

    Export spreadsheet

After you’ve cleaned that spreadsheet up, deleting the unnecessary data, proceed to the File menu and select SAVE AS – select webpage as the format.

We’re almost there. Now, locate your new webpage formatted file and right-click on it. Select Open With > Firefox. The file should open in a page in the browser and will display the file links.

    Attach a File

Now for the grand finale…Click on the Tools menu in Firefox and select DownThemAll!. Confirm the folder they should be downloaded to and then click Start!

    Last Step

The files will then be downloaded to the specified folder and that’s it. Finito!
